68-70 Cents Petrol Hike

And the shortlived relief comes to an end :(. The Automobile Association has warned the petrol price could rise by up to 68 cents per litre in March while others, such as economist Dawie Roodt, expects an even sharper increase in fuel prices.

“I expect a petrol price increase in the region of around 70 cents per litre or so,” says Roodt. “That’s probably not going to be the last increase. I’m pretty sure the Minister of Finance will increase the fuel levy again in his budget speech next week. And I will not be surprised if that increase can be as much as R1 per litre more."
